Key Tasks & Deliverables
Defence Fire and Rescue (DFR) is a business unit within the MOD and is responsible for mitigating the risk of the Defence’s exposure to all fire matters. Defence Fire and Rescue is currently going through a period of transformational change following the placement of the Defence Fire and Rescue Project (DFRP) contract with Industry for meeting Defence’s diverse fire and rescue requirements, both within the UK and overseas, and in support of Defence operations.
Recognising the transformational change that DFR is going through, there is a requirement for the organisation identify and manage its business risks through the application of best risk management practice. This also enables risks to be escalated through DFR’s management structure in order to inform decision making and the application of additional controls and mitigation where appropriate.
Working closely with Risk Owners within DFR’s HQ, the Risk Manager will capture and record all risks using DFR’s risk register. Engagement with risk owners will be proactive, prompting consideration of appropriate scorings, controls and mitigations. Risks will be reviewed on a regular basis with Risk Owners in order to assess the impact of controls and review impact and likelihood assessments. Issues and top risks will be identified for sharing with senior management in order to ensure there is an understanding of these and to inform further decision making over interventions/risk treatment.
DFR’s headquarters is at Army HQ in Andover. It is envisaged however that the majority of the activities required for this role can be undertaken remotely, with only occasional visits to Andover.
