Job Description
The public sector client is looking to recruit a Lead Software Engineer to work on a temporary contract, from now up until the end of the financial year (March 2022). The client has confirmed that you can work remotely, however, once the restrictions ease, you will be required to work onsite at one of the client’s office bases of your choice, which will either be in: Manchester, Blackpool or Leeds.
To lead all software engineering activities across CMG Common Platforms tribe. Maturing the engineering team and putting in place practices and frameworks to enable the delivery of key platform components.
Essential Skills & Experience
This is the nice to have but not essential criteria
Government experience
This should also include the Levels of skills you require
Extensive software development experience especially using NodeJS
Java experience also
Microservices, Containers and Kubernetes experience.
Kafka experience. More developing services on Kafka platforms
Extensive experience of building microservices and event-based applications
Software frameworks
Stack – MongoDB
Lead development experience – developing and building development teams
Key Tasks & Deliverables
Summary of the Role and key responsibilities
• Leading software and test engineers across Common Platforms
• Putting in place a culture of technical innovation
• Improving engineering practices, tools and frameworks not just within Common Platforms, but across Children’s Digital
• Engineering resource workload planning and prioritisation
• Accelerating the move towards containers and GitLab SaaS.
Knowledge and Experience required:
e.g. Previous experience of working for a government dept.
