Job Description
The public sector client is looking to recruit a Qualified Commercial Accountant to join their verification team as a verification advisor. The temporary contract is for 6 months. The successful candidate will be able to work remotely and partially within the office, based in Reading.
The successful candidate will have a valid DBS or be willing to apply for one on CV submission or when a job offer has been made and accepted. This assignment sits inside IR35.
About the Rates of Pay: The higher pay rate advertised in our job advert/s will always be the highest Ltd or Umbrella Company pay rate that the client is willing to pay up to and the lower pay rate advertised in our job advert/s will always be the highest PAYE pay rate, that the client is willing to pay up to, unless otherwise specified. Essential Skills & Experience
Preferred experience in Commercial Audit or Manufacturing Accounting
Requires experience of audit within a commercial setting or knowledge of industry. We are hoping to get people that have worked within big accountancy firms, worked as management/financial accountants within a manufacturing industry or worked as forensic accountants.
Key Tasks & Deliverables
These roles will lead our verification activities in specific cases working within multi-discipline case teams comprising, investigators, analysts and lawyers. The person will be responsible for setting the verification strategy and plan, supporting the case team to form an initial judgement on the reliability of the materials they have received from UK and overseas parties. The role will lead the case teams in the activities required to verify the completeness, accuracy and relevance of data they have been provided including cross-checking against other data and through interviews with company personnel. The role will have responsibility for ensuring the case teams form accurate, evidence-led judgements on the data and to provide hands-on support and coaching to less experienced colleagues, helping to develop their verification capability.
There are two roles that require the same skillset, only differentiated by the level of experience required.
The Lead Verification Adviser role (G7) will be more experienced and be required to take an active lead role in key accountabilities listed below. This role is expected to be a fully qualified accountant.
The Verification Adviser role (SEO) is expected to be a more support role, supporting the lead in delivering the objectives of the team. This person may be less experienced than the Lead Verification Adviser and we will consider part qualified candidates with the right experience.
Qualifications, Training & Certificates
Role entails – Review and analyse complex financial data as part of investigations
Required: Training / Teaching Experience would be very advantageous
