Job Description

The public sector client is looking to recruit a 5 Information Analysts for a 6 month temporary contract, which enables you to work remotely during the duration of the assignment. The job is likely to be extended after the 6 month duration and could possibly be on-going.

Essential Skills & Experience

Skills and Experience – Essential:
• Experience of identifying and managing areas where there are shared and conflicting agendas.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to choose content and style to suit the audience, including large groups.
• Able to work within a team under guidance from senior colleagues, able to work on own initiative as well as a member of a team, able to work across teams. Able to communicate effectively with both external and internal customers and colleagues to understand the work required and present or explain work completed.
• Ability to manage a small team and prioritise own and staff’s work in line with organisational priorities.
• Experience of leading on projects, including the allocation of work to other staff, to deliver quality outcomes to deadline and identifying risks.
• Ability to learn rapidly to use new statistical packages to a high standard.
• Competent in setting direction: understands where own and team’s work fit in with wider organisational priorities and can manage the work of others. Takes positive actions to implement new ideas. Examines complex information to make accurate decisions.
• Competent in data analysis: uses appropriate statistical, data science and/or methodological knowledge to achieve a specific end goal. Able to analyse complex datasets, apply statistical curiosity and draw evidence-based conclusions delivering highly accurate datasets.
• Understands customer needs and how to acquire data: aware of data sources available in own area and makes best use of existing data.
• Proactively engages with customer sharing knowledge of existing data sources. Able to present and disseminate data effectively through the use of tables, charts, graphs and keeps abreast of new presentation and dissemination developments. Ensures delivery of professional excellence and expertise. Identify common problems or weaknesses in policy or procedures that affect service and escalate these.
• Works in a way that promotes personal credibility which builds trust with
• customers. Is aware of own capabilities and looks to share skills with others and to expand upon them.
• Actively encourages team working. Proactively seek information, resources and support from outside own immediate team in order to help achieve results.
• Experience of devising solutions to ensure internal specialist expertise adds demonstrable value to the wider system.
• Ability to write code (SQL, Python etc) to a good standard.

Key Tasks & Deliverables

About You: Essential Knowledge:
• Strong analytical and requirements gathering skills.
• Able to understand and interpret results from complex analysis, apply the results to the given problem and suggest conclusions to be drawn.
• Able to present and explain results of analysis via written and verbal communication.
• Good working knowledge and experience of databases including database interrogation tools
• Good working knowledge of spreadsheets, with experience of making use of their wider functionality (e.g. formulae).
• Understands a wide range of data quality issues and the application of the appropriate data validation techniques
• Knowledge of professional standards (including Code of Practice for Statistics, General Data Protection Regulation and Freedom of Information Act) and their application.

You will have deep specialist knowledge or the ability to build deep specialist knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
• Statistical modelling and techniques including coding on software packages
• Business intelligence and visual analytics to develop and standardise sophisticated interactive presentations
• Data science using cutting edge technologies combined with data expertise to solve real-world problems
• Data linkage and analysis of new types of data including using analysis and subject matter knowledge to inform content requirements.

Desirable: 
• Experience of working in the public sector.
• Able to exhibit knowledge of relevant legislation when working with public data.
• Knowledge of using two or more of these statistical techniques; Analysis of variance, Multiple regression, Other Multivariate techniques, Stochastic
• processes, Time Series Analysis,
• Generalised Linear Model, Hypothesis testing or Index numbers.

Other: 
• Occasional travel throughout England, as required by the job.
• Occasional overnight stays throughout England, as required by the job.

Qualifications, Training & Certificates

Desirable
• Experience with using record level data.
• Experience and aptitude in using a statistical package, e.g. SAS, SPSS or R

Qualifications 
Essential
• Education to a post graduate diploma level in a numerate discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge

Desirable 
• Government Statistical Group Membership

About the Rates of Pay: The higher pay rate advertised in our job advert/s will always be the highest Ltd or Umbrella Company pay rate that the client is willing to pay up to and the lower pay rate advertised in our job advert/s will always be the highest PAYE pay rate, that the client is willing to pay up to, unless otherwise specified.
