Job Description
The public sector client is looking to recruit a Head of the Enterprise Architect Team. The contract is for 3 months, however, this is a rolling contract and will be extended as the business needs and requirements. The successful candidate will be working remotely, however, will need to travel to the Head Office and other sites when requested. The successful candidate will have a valid DBS. Please Note; This assignment sits inside IR35.

Essential Skills & Experience
• Significant experience leading an architectural function operating at enterprise level
• Ability to set architecture strategies including patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements.
• Widely experienced architect with enterprise, solution and data architecture experience, and familiarity with all levels of design from conceptual to physical component level. Preferably will have certification with an enterprise architecture framework (TOGAF, MODAF etc).
• Significant experience designing and assuring the delivery of enterprise data architectures, with experience across an end-to-end solution from data acquisition, through storage, processing, analytics and visualisation
• Strong understanding of technical risk and approaches to mitigating and accepting risk, as well as approaches to addressing technical debt.
• Experience of analytics, business intelligence and datastore technology, including modern high-end and cloud-based data analytics architectures
• The ability to make and justify decisions characterised by high levels of risk, impact and complexity.
• Ability to manage multiple competing sets of business and technical requirements and organisational drivers, with varying degrees of risk. You should be able to and to prioritise work effectively and be confident in decision-making with high levels of uncertainty, complexity and impact.
• Excellent stakeholder management abilities with an ability to elicit use cases and requirements from all levels of stakeholder. Experience interacting at Director / C-suite level.
• Ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Can bring in external knowledge and have a demonstrated ability to understand trends and practices outside the organisation and how these will impact work.
• Pragmatic and collaborative way of working; we do not expect the Head to dictate architectural decisions, but instead to be able to build consensus between organisations and highly independent and diverse stakeholders.
Key Tasks & Deliverables
The primary responsibilities of the Head of Enterprise Architecture are:
• Lead the data architecture function, setting out the strategy and roadmap for the future data architecture, as informed by use cases. Able to deputise for DD – Data Operations where required.
• Management of data architecture team, primarily the JBC Technical Design squad, including addressing resourcing issues.
• Product ownership for the Technical Design squad, setting priorities and definition of done for both strategic and operational work.
• Chairing the Enterprise Architecture & Design Authority which is the architectural governance forum; including linking this into wider architectural governance forums.
• Owning relationships with senior architecture stakeholders within the client office,
• Developing the connections between the architectural team and roadmap and the broader needs, platforms, and data
• Ensure architectural compliance and rigour through application of EA methodologies, best practice, design patterns and through development of architectural principles and guard rails. You will also need to look for opportunities to collaborate and reuse components.
• Provision of assurance to organisational-level architecture activities.
• Communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
