The public sector client is looking to recruit a Digital Technical Architect for a 6 month temporary contract which is based in Leeds. You will be able to work partially remotely until the restrictions ease, thereafter you will be office based.

This is an exciting time to join NHS Digital as one of our Technical Architects. The Architecture Profession provides a range of services to our internal and external stakeholders. We provide technical and solution architecture design, technical consultancy and technical/ solution architecture ownership to large-scale NHS programmes and organisations. The work we do makes a difference to patients and NHS staff at a national level.

Within the Core Infrastructure directorate in NHS Digital we are working on delivering a Cloud Centre of Excellence. The successful candidate will be a core member of the team responsible for forming and shaping this capability, working with other TAs and team members from across NHS Digital to establish and run a more orchestrated, coordinated, standardised and optimal approach to Cloud adoption throughout the NHS, helping the NHS deliver on the NHS long-term plan and improving the environmental sustainability of IT within the NHS.
About you

• Broad experience of Applications & Infrastructure with demonstrable experience of working successfully with varied development teams in a fast-paced cloud-based environment.
• Experience of managing Public Cloud environments and accounts
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Evidence of identifying and documenting functional and non-functional requirements for a project
• Experience of architecting large-scale solutions on AWS and/or Azure and/or private hosting arrangements

• Demonstrable evidence regarding leadership in the development of system and solution architectures utilising public cloud services and the management and optimisation of cloud infrastructure.
• Demonstrable evidence of strategy and principle setting for hosting (cloud, on-premise and hybrid) in a complex enterprise environment.
• You will be required to make credible technical decisions and communicate with sensitivity and diplomacy to ensure the right technical direction is followed.
• Experience of leading and delivering technical change, challenging the status-quo, anticipating problems and monitoring implementation progress.
• Experience delivering across a large and complex domain of work in terms of transaction and data volumes, technology complexity and number of active users.
• Experience with management and administration of Public Cloud vendors, including definition of guardrails, monitoring, cost optimisation, service optimisation, sustainability, definition of patterns and security management.
• Experience of architecting large-scale solutions on both public cloud offerings and private infrastructure arrangements.
• Experience of delivering interoperability solutions, exploiting patterns and technologies e.g. API management solutions, would be desirable.

Advantageous: 
• Knowledge of networks (HSCN) and collaboration within Healthcare systems and associated standards and best practice
• Knowledge of and experience of using architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
• Knowledge of core NHS and healthcare technologies
• Knowledge of the NHS

The successful candidate will have a valid DBS or be willing to apply for one on CV submission or when a job offer has been made and accepted. This assignment sits inside IR35.
