Job Description

The public sector client is looking to recruit a Digital Content Designer for a 6 month temporary contract based in London or Leeds. The assignment will be office based (whichever location you chose to work from).

About the Client – What they are looking for:

We are looking for a content designer to join the NHS digital service manual and design system team.

Additional Information: The successful candidate will have a valid DBS or be willing to apply for one on CV submission or when a job offer has been made and accepted.
Please Note: This assignment sits inside IR35.

Essential Skills & Experience

Relevant Experience:
• Content design in a government, NHS or social care setting, in line with GDS best practice
• Agile ways of working and user-centred design.
• Working with HMTL and willing to work in code with GITHub and be comfortable working in a tech environment and learning to use a range of tools
• Making sure all content assets are user-focused, accurate, optimised appropriately (e.g. for search), and meet design, style and accessibility guidelines.
• Able to identify and engage with colleagues and stakeholders
• An interest in service standards, design systems and content style
• A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

Key Tasks & Deliverables

The role will involve:
• working with the content community and engaging them in developing the style guide, including preparing for, chairing and following up Content Style Council meetings
• providing content design expertise, working with designers and developers to develop design system components, patterns, and guidance
• liaising with accessibility and other subject matter experts to create, update or iterate content
• engaging with the service manual community, encouraging contribution and collaboration

All NHS.UK content designers may be asked to take part in other projects and to help with the day to day running of the NHS website, providing clinically validated content and services.
